Migrants Entering Greece from Turkey Receive New Classification

As of Sunday March 20th, any migrant that enters Greece via Turkey will be classified as “irregular”, according to the latest EUTurkey Summit and the deal that was sealed in order to manage the refugee and migrant crisis.
Since yesterday, an operation commenced in order to move the refugees and migrants that are currently on the islands of the North Aegean, and to take them in hotspots mainly in Northern Greece.
This morning, refugees and migrants arrived in Elefsina for the first time. A ship carrying 1,169 people from Chios arrived in Piraeus port. In addition, the ship “Eleftherios Venizelos sailed from Lesvos, carrying 1,372 people to Kavala.
Last night, a ship with 604 refugees and migrants from North Aegean islands arrived at Piraeus port; 446 of them were transferred by bus to hotspots in Larisa.
According to the latest data by the Navy, 4,458 people are still hemmed at Piraeus port.

Tragedy in Ro island

Two little girls aged 1 and 2 years old were found dead by the Greek Navy in the open sea close the island of Ro. Under unknown circumstances, the two girls fell from a boat that was carrying around 40 refugees and migrants from the Turkish coast to the island of Ro.
