Voula Papachristou is celebrating her return to big sports events in the best way. The triple jump champion won third place in the IAAF World Indoor Championship in Portland, with a jump of 14.45 meters.
Papachristou managed to win the bronze medal with five invalid jumps and only one valid one. First place was won by Yulimar Rojas from Venezuela.
Papachristou admitted how lucky she was to make it in the third place. “There is so much joy, we are going crazy! I am very touched, I can’t stop crying. I had a bad performance, however I grabbed the opportunity. I did everything I needed to do,” the track champion told the Federal team website.
“I’m not thinking in a different way in comparison with today. We are keeping up the hard work. Our goals are the same and pertain to the open championship,” she added.
