An anonymous caller announced that there is a bomb at Athens’ Eleftherios Venizelos airport. “It will be the same as Brussels, it is not a hoax,” said the man in a call to news website Zougla.gr.
The call comes 24 hours after an attack killed more than 10 people at Brussels airport, while a second attack at the Belgian capital’s subway killed more than twenty.
Greek authorities caried out a special operation to investigate the claim and nothing was found. Greek police say the telephone call was a farce. Athens airport remains open to the public and flights are operating as scheduled.
