Greek Minister of Economy Hopes Agreement With Creditors Will Be Reached by April 22

Minister of Economy Giorgos Stathakis addressed the issue of the ongoing negotiation talks with Greece’s creditors while in Chania, the second largest city of Crete.
Responding to a reporter’s question about the status of the negotiation talks, Mr. Stathakis said that negotiations over the new bailout program will continue after Easter Sunday in the Catholic Church, adding that his hope is that there will be an agreement by the deadline originally set, which is April 22.
The Minister of Economy is in Crete as government representative for Greek Independence Day (March 25).
In celebration of the occasion of Greek Independence Day, Mr. Stathakis said “today we celebrate a national holiday that symbolizes the unsurpassed principles of national independence and freedom.”
