European Commission Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis estimates that an agreement between Greece and its creditors over the bailout program review is feasible “within weeks.”
Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, Dombrovskis said that the EC has not set any deadlines because what is important is for the two sides to come to an agreement and not the time frame of the agreement.
According to the vice president there has been progress in the recent talks over the measures required to reach the fiscal targets and estimated that an agreement is not far off.
“There is progress. There were meetings to discuss the various points from all sides and I believe we are near,” he said.
Talks between Greece and international creditors are to resume on Tuesday, after being interrupted for the International Monetary Fund spring meetings in Washington.
