Greek Fin Min Continues Bailout Review Talks Amid Resignation Rumors

tsakalotos2Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos might be willing to resign because he doesn’t want to succumb to creditors’ pressure, says German newspaper Bild and Ntv news agency.
Unlike Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, Tsakalotos does not want to sign the new austerity measures Greece’s lenders require in order to complete the bailout program review.
The reports state that the Greek finance minister does not want to cross the 9,100-euro line he has set for the threshold of tax exempt incomes, with creditors insisting on taxing incomes above 8,182 euros.
The Ntv report says that “Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras maybe should be looking for a new finance minister soon… Euclid Tsakalotos wants to resign.”
The Bild report talks of a great political and economic crisis in Greece, noting that while the country is running out of money, members of the Greek government threaten to resign.
“At a time when the country is running out of money, the political situation deteriorates. The Greek Finance Minister threatens to resign,” Bild says.
“Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and the creditors of the bankrupt country are playing poker for months on reforms and the new assistance package. It seems that Tsipras continues to gamble,” the report reads and refers to the government’s decision to collect as much money as possible from state organizations to meet current financial needs.
