Police Report Over 27,000 Protests in Greek Capital 2011-2015

Protests_SyntagmaNew police data has been released regarding how many riots took place in the Greek Capital of Athens from 2011-2015. To help proportionalize the results, the data was also analyzed, focusing on how many people actually attended the demonstrations.
According to the Greek Police, there were 27,103 protests orchestrated in Athens from 2011-2015 which led to the dispatching of 702,443 officers.
Overall, the level of protests peaked in 2013, with a record amount of 6,231 rallies in Athens. However, it is believed that many of the riots over the past few years were sparsely attended. In 2012, protests with more than 1000 people in attendance was as few as 61. This number rose to 72 protests in 2013, fell to 58 in 2014, and then peaked at 72 in 2015.
Also the report concluded that many of the demonstrations results in “widespread” vandalism, siting riots on May 5, 2010, June 28-29 2011, October 19-20 2011, February 12, 2012, and December 6, 2014 to name a few.
