Security Measures Underway for Putin's Visit to Greece

Guard_121Preparations for the security measures for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit in Greece at the end of May are underway by the Russian security services.
According to Eleftheros Typos newspaper, the upper echelon of security of the Russian president are already in Greece. Putin will be transported by a massive Antonov aircraft and three armored limousines armed with heavy weapons and electronic equipment will be used for his transport while in Greece.
Members of the security team have already inspected Macedonia Airport in Thessaloniki, where the presidential plane will land. From there, Putin will travel to Mount Athos monastery. An aircraft with equipment and security devices to be used for the president’s safety will arrive at Macedonia Airport before the presidential plane, says the Eleftheros Typos report.
An electronic safety net will be around Russia‘s leader during his stay in Greece. Electronic devices and weapons that can shoot down any threatening drones or helicopters will be deployed. The three limousines are identical, so potential perpetrators who would possibly want to harm Putin will not know in which of the three vehicles he is in.
In addition, the presidential guard to accompany him on every step consists of 70 men who have been trained in the elite special forces, namely the famous Spetsnaz, whose members urban legend describes as “supermen.”
On May 28 when Putin will arrive in the capital, the luxury beachfront hotel in eastern Attica where he will stay will resemble a fortress, and the surrounding area will be off limits for all. At the same time, Greek police prepare their own security plan for Putin’s visit.
