Mikis Theodorakis Interview: Disappointed in Tsipras, Status Quo

theodorakis-mikisDuring an interview with Vima 99.5 FM, Mikis Theodorakis, the famous Greek composer and songwriter spoke of many topics that touch the hearts of the Greek people such as his own personal work, the state of the country and politics.
“Nobody loved Greece as much as I do. Everyone who suffered for and loved Greece are dead, I don’t know if it is a good thing that I am alive” he stated in a melancholy tone “music is jealous and does not allow you to do anything else.”
Specifically speaking of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, Theodorakis commented, “I am sorry for Tsipras, because power changes people and the leftist government will take the Left and Greece back,” further stating “he is a good guy, but power changes people.” The two men had previously exchanged ideas in January 2015 after the elections. Theodorakis expressed his frustrations regarding Greece’s current economic and social status in Europe, saying that “this Europe has no relation to the Europe we know, it is a tool of the IMF and the Americans.”
