Greek Stats Agency Shows GDP Shrinkage, But Slight Rise in PPI

The Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) released its seasonally adjusted data that shows a shrinkage in the Greek GDP by 1.4 percent in the first quarter of 2016 compared to the same period in the previous year and a decrease by 0.5 percent compared with the fourth quarter of 2015. The Greek statistics agency said that the Greek GDP is marginally off its May projections that had predicted a 1.3 percent decrease.
Non-seasonally adjusted data indicated that in the first quarter of 2016, the GDP in volume terms decreased by 1.3 percent in comparison with the first quarter of 2015, against the decrease of 1.2 percent that was calculated for the flash estimate of the first quarter and was announced on May 13.
Producer Price Index in Industry
The Overall Producer Price Index in Industry (total of domestic and non domestic market) with base year 2010 equals 100.0, in April 2016, compared with April 2015 recorded a decrease of 10.2 percent. The index in April 2015 had recorded a decrease of 5.1 percent compared with April 2014.
The Overall Producer Price Index (PPI) in April 2016 compared with March 2016 recorded an increase of 0.4 percent. The index in April 2015 had recorded an increase of 0.3 percent.
