Poll: 8 in 10 Greeks Believe Government Incapable of Ending Austerity

Euro_coins_economy_eurozone_money_banknotesA new opinion poll registers the pessimism of Greeks regarding their government’s capabilities as eight out of ten participants believe the SYRIZA-ANEL coalition is incapable of putting an end to austerity.
The poll was conducted by ALCO on behalf of the General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE). In the question whether the government has the capability to pull the country out of the economic crisis, 80% of participants answered “no,” 11% answered “yes,” while 9% refused to answer or said they were undecided.
In the question what is most important for the recovery of Greece’s economy, 70% said it is the lifting of austerity measures, of the end of austerity, 17% said it is debt sustainability, while a 9% did not answer.
In regards to measures already taken, 38% of participants that those who will lose the most are professionals, followed by pensioners (27%), private sector employees (19%) and public sector employees (6%).
The poll also shows that Greek citizens fear the next bailout program review in September, when creditors will require changes in labor laws.
