Poros Village Declared 2016 European Stork Village

STORKS
The village of Poros, Evros, was declared 2016 European Stork Village by the EuroNatur Foundation. The title came after a nomination by representatives of the European Agency for the environmental protection at a special ceremony held in Poros.
The prize was awarded as a result of the village’s commitment to protect storks and preserve the Greek natural landscape that has many storks. The declaration was achieved after many years of monitoring the species as well as installing transmitters and repairing artificial nests. The village was praised for its integrated proposals for future actions concerning the protection of species and their promotion to raise awareness of the local community and visitors in general.
The  EuroNature οrganization will award the prize to the representatives from the village of Poros, in a festival to be held at the end of May 2017.
