English Postgrad Programs to Launch in Greek Universities

hellenic university eng postgradThe Greek government has announced that it is planning to push through barriers of legislation to create branches of the International Hellenic University to span to all Greek universities over the summer, offering postgraduate studies programs in English.
The move is being made in hopes to regain some stability and control over the “anarchy” of the postgraduate studies in the country’s academic institutions, according to ekathimerini.com.
The state-run university charges its students tuition fees and was founded in 2005. The Hellenic University hosts a variety of postgraduate programs in English that attracts international students as well as Greek.
Nikos Filis, Education Minister of Greece enthusiastically received the proposal of the Hellenic University’s involvement in Greek university’s postgrad programs.
“We want to strengthen this outlook of openness, which is a defining characteristic of this university,” Alternate Education Minister Sia Anagnostopoulou told ekathimerini.com.
Anagnostopoulou also commented on the fact that this cooperation will help Greek universities appeal and exchange with international institutions, saying that the only way to “survive is through subsidiarity and cooperation.”
