Cyprus Foreign Ministry Urges Turkish Government to Cooperate Concerning Missing Persons Issue

missing persons cyprusThe Cyprus Foreign Ministry is urging the Turkish government to cooperate for the resolution of the missing persons issue, including granting the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) all information and data that from the Turkish military archives.
Turkish-Cypriot “Afrika” reported that Greek-Cypriots who were abducted during the 1974 Turkish invasion of Cyprus and went missing, were taken to Kyrenia Port and then Adana, where they were transported by boat and buried alive.
The Foreign Ministry, in a statement following the recent reports in the Turkish-Cypriot press, notes that news of similar nature in the past caused unfair and unnecessary grief to relatives of missing persons as they proved to be unfounded.
