Anarchists Occupy SYRIZA Government Offices in Thessaloniki

Anarchists staged a sit-in at the offices of the ruling Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) party in Thessaloniki, in northern Greece. The protest was in reaction to a police raid earlier in the day at three buildings occupied by squatters.

A message posted on the anti-state Indymedia website, referred to the left-led government’s “pogrom” of the squats. Condemnation for the deed was due to the fact that the squats provide shelter for migrants and asylum seekers.

The group also demands the release of dozens of suspects detained during the police raid at the defunct Megas Alexandros orphanage at Ano Toumba, the abandoned Mandalideio villa on Nikos Avenue and an eight-floor building in the center of Thessaloniki.
