A pole vault of 5.70 gave Greek champion Kostas Filippidis the qualification for the finals in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The Greek pole vault champion did not have to try for 5.75 as 5.70 was enough to land one of 12 spots in the finals. The 12 pole vault athletes will compete for the gold on August 16 at 2:35 a.m.
This is the second time Filippidis goes to an Olympic Games final. “The goal is achieved. Now we are resting and we prepare for the final. The level of competition is very high,” the Greek athlete told reporters.
