A clay amphora containing human bones was found in the area of Gra Lygia, Ierapetra, in Crete. This is the second clay amphora with human remains found in the region after fragments of an amphora were washed ashore by the sea on the beach of Gra Lygia a month ago on July 20.
Archaeologists believe that the both amphorae date back to the Minoan era. It is believed that these new discoveries are linked to excavations carried out in an ancient cemetery nearby.
The recent amphora was found by an individual who informed Ierapetra’s coast Guard and the Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities.
