Armed Robbery at Sklavenitis Supermarket in Athens

SKLA
Three gunmen broke into the Sklavenitis supermarket branch at Nea Halkidona at 467 Acharnon Street, northwest of the Athens center near the Athens-Lamia National Highway. Shots were fired and a security guard, aged 42, was injured when a bullet fired by the gunmen hit his leg during the incident on Friday afternoon.
Earlier, the perpetrators managed to empty the cash registers of an unknown sum of money. A security guard that had yet to start his shift happened to be shopping – along with dozens of other customers – when the incident occurred. He tried to stop the gunmen but was injured just as the armed robbers escaped.
The injured man was rushed to Evangelismos hospital and the condition of his health is stable.
