According to reports by Greek authorities, on Monday police arrested 10 people in connection with the vandalism of tollbooths on the Athens-Patra highway that occurred earlier during the day.
Authorities reported that two cars carrying a total of 10 people were identified by motoristsĀ at the tollbooth who witnessed the group smashing two booths and littering the streets with flyers encouraging peopleĀ to not pay the toll fees.
The 10 suspects are said to be members of the anti-establishment group, Rouvikonas. The group posted a statement on an anarchist website Monday claiming responsibility for the vandalism stating that the highway is a waste of taxpayers’ money and is unhappy with the “corrupt” relationship between the state and the consortium in charge of construction the roadway.
