Rouvikonas Anarchists Accuse the Police of Sly Tactics in Drug Busts

PolicE
The Greek Police (ELAS) has accused the Greek anarchist group Rouvikonas (Rubicon) of standing in the way of efforts being made to tackle the drug problems in the region of Exarchia, central Athens.
Rubicon recently referred to police operations on an anti-authoritarian website where the group reported to recent tactics employed by police when questioning suspects for drug trafficking. The article reports that police insisted that their arrest was due to an informant from within their ranks who named them when speaking with members of the drug squad. Characteristically, it is alleged that the police referred to the name “Kalaitzidis” as being the informant.
The article reveals the police efforts as a “clear, traditional provocation. We are bringing it to everybody’s attention. Times are sly. Mechanisms work towards and try to achieve unspeakable goals. But these mechanisms don’t come from nowhere: they are in the heart of the state. The responsibility that such practices can lead to weigh on the entire Greek police, the entire government, the entire state. And that is where it will be charged.”
Police sources deny having told arrested parties that members of Rubicon collaborated with them as informants against the drug mafia of Exarchia.
