Cyprus President N. Anastasiades to Visit New York for 71st Session of UN General Assembly

Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades is visiting New York from September 17-25, leading the Cypriot delegation during the high-level week of the 71st Session of the UN General Assembly. The President will be accompanied by the First Lady, Andri Anastasiades, and Government Spokesman Nikos Christodoulides.
President Anastasiades will have a private meeting with the Secretary-General of the United Nations and also a series of bilateral meetings with many Heads of State and Government as well as Foreign Ministers visiting the UN.
On Monday, September 19, in the morning, he will address the UN High Level Meeting on Large Movements of Refugees and Migrants and later will host a working luncheon with the Five Permanent Members of the Security Council. In the afternoon President Anastasiades will speak at the 2016 Concordia Summit on the Future of Europe.
On Thursday, September 22, he will address the 71st Session of the UN General Assembly in the morning. A press conference by the President to the UN accredited journalists and correspondents will follow his speech. On the same day, President Anastasiades will pay a visit to his Eminence Archbishop Demetrios and on Friday, September 23, he will accept the award “Light Unto the Nations” by the American Jewish Committee. In the evening he will attend a testimonial dinner hosted by the Cyprus Federation of America.
On Sunday, September 25, President Anastasiades and the Turkish Cypriot leader Mr. Mustafa Akinci will attend a joint meeting which has been convened by the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
President Anastasiades will return to Cyprus on Sunday, September 25.
