There is no end to Turkish provocations in the Aegean with interventions over Greek air space and Athens FIR (Flight Information Region). Greece’s daily Kathimerini reports that six Turkish F16 jets and one CN-235 navy jet were responsible for 23 violations of Greek national air space and four violations pertaining to Athens FIR.
A pair of Greek F16s accompanied the CN-235 as it entered Greek air space whereas Greek fighter planes, which took off from the island of Lemnos, intercepted the Turkish F16 jets.
The Hellenic National Defense Department is carrying out the Parmenion 2016 exercise with the fleet of the Military Navy in the Aegean. Despite Turkish provocations, the military drills continued as planned, uninterrupted.
