4-Year-Old Murdered Ani's Father and His Accomplice Both Get Life Sentences

an
An Athens court found four defendants guilty in the gruesome murder of 4-year-old Ani Borisova in central Athens on Good Friday, 2015. The crime had shocked the nation as it implicated the child’s own parents who had reported her as missing. The main brunt of the case focused on the victim’s father, Stanislav Bakardjiev, aged 27, who worked with an accomplice called Nazif Ahmedov, aged 30. Together, the two admitted to cutting up the child’s body but the father denied he had killed her, claiming that though he helped get rid of the body he had done so after the child had died. Regardless of extenuating circumstances both men were handed out life sentences.
Dimitrina Borisova, aged 25, was also found guilty of exposing her daughter, little Ani, to danger, however, she was acquitted of charges of perjury. She received a six-year jail sentence.
The fourth defendant was the owner of the basement flat where Ani died who was found guilty of perjury. The court is now considering any extenuating circumstances before handing out ruling.
