The Associated Press (AP) has reported that on Thursday Greek police have taken a Syrian man into custody on the Greek island of Crete. The man is wanted in Belgium for his alleged involvement in migrant-smuggling.
The man was taken into police custody on Thursday in western Crete and is expected to appear in front of a prosecutor on Friday in Chania.
The 51-year-old Syrian national is facing charges for alleged participation in a criminal organization, facilitating the illegal entry and residence of migrants, forgery and dealing forged documents, the AP reports.
