Aftershocks Shake Epirus Following 5.2 Earthquake; 4.4 Quake Rattles Samos

A moderate earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale was recorded at 11:14 p.m. on Saturday night in northwestern Greece.
According to the Geodynamics Institute of the Athens Observatory the quake’s epicenter was located 12 kilometers northwest of the city of Ioannina with a 5 kilometre depth.
A series of aftershocks measuring 4.4 to 4.9 on the Richter scale has yet to allow the residents of Ioannina to return to their houses.
Landslides in the mountainous road network have been reported and police, the Fire Brigade and the national emergency aid center are on alert.
Meanwhile, a light earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale was recorded at 4:30 a.m. on Monday, northeast of the Greek island of Samos.
According to the Geodynamics Institute of the Athens Observatory, the quake’s epicenter was located 17 kilometers northeast of Samos island at a depth of 10 kilometers.
