Main opposition New Democracy (ND) on Monday submitted an amendment to parliament for suspending first home foreclosures for debts to the state until the end of 2017.
The conservative party said that the amendment was presented to cover up, once again, the failure of the government to deal with the problem that it has created. The amendment hopes to suspend first home foreclosures for debts to the state until the end of 2017, as long as there are three prerequisites:

  • the property serves as the main house of the family
  • the annual income does not exceed 13,900 euros for unmarried people, 23,600 euros for married couples, increased by 5,700 euros for each child
  • the objective value of the property does not exceed 180,000 euros for unmarried persons, increased by 40,000 euros for married persons and 20,000 euros per child and up to three children.
