Notaries Abstain From Foreclosures of Primary Residences Again This Week

block
Greek notaries decided to not take part in foreclosures of primary residences this week, extending the decision they had taken last week. Their decision to abstain from the process is due to the fact that they state that the conditions for the normal process of foreclosures has yet to be secured.
Notaries want the state to find a solution to problems concerning the carrying out of foreclosures in order to ensure the legality of procedures. They have already stated that they will not take part in the planned foreclosures scheduled for October 19.
This is the second week that notaries are abstaining from foreclosures of main residences. A press conference was held last week to explain the reasoning behind their decision to abstain. They called on the government to legislate limits for the exemption of primary homes from foreclosures and they also stated that they have been targeted by some citizens and called for protection.
Noteworthy is the fact that there will be a speeding up of the process concerning foreclosures as there were 40,000 outstanding decrees, many of which concerned the foreclosures of real estate and farmlands.
