Health Ministry Announces Downward Revisions for Diagnostic Tests

medical researchOn Wednesday, the Greek Health Ministry announced downward revisions in the pricing of a series of diagnostic tests and other medical procedures in order to cut costs by reducing compensation paid to patients covered by state health insurance funds.
In addition to procedures repriced downwards, the announcement noted the pricing of 86 medical procedures and tests that were previously paid for in full by patients now being covered by compensation from EOPYY.
The most significant of these procedures are digital mammograms, Nuchal translucency (NT) ultrasound scans for down’s syndrome, prenatal genetic testing for cystic fibrosis, HPV, vaginal ultrasound, coronary CT angiogram and PCR for A/H1N1 flu.
