Modern punk and new wave blew through the island of Hydra on Thursday as British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, aged 75, chose the island to shoot their new collection, SS/S ’17. Also on the island with Westwood is her muse, former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson, 49, who is modeling the collection and legendary fashion photographer Juergen Teller.
The action is being posted on make-up artist Apollonia Bee’s Instagram account that is abuzz with moments from the shoot.
Westwood is largely credited for bringing modern punk and new wave fashion into the mainstream after coming to public notice when she made clothes for Malcolm McLaren’s boutique in King’s Road, which became famous as “SEX,” thanks to their ability to synthesize clothing and music that shaped the Seventies UK punk scene, dominated by McLaren’s band, the Sex Pistols.
The choice of Hydra as the island for the photo shoot is a huge boost to the island as it will be showcased in such a way so as to draw attention to its charm.
