New Democracy Stressing the Need for Early Elections

Television Landscape
The decision of the State Council that ruled the law on TV licenses unconstitutional is a significant decision for the country, main opposition New Democracy (ND) said in a statement.
“The tender-parody was cancelled. The law on TV licenses belongs to the past. The effort to embezzle the powers of the National Council for Radio and Television (NCRTV) failed,” it said.
From the very beginning, ND defended the constitutional order and struggled to prevent the government coup in the field of media, it added. “It is no time for celebrations. Together with the democratic society we feel vindicated because the constitutional legality was restored. The authoritarian and undemocratic approaches and interventions to justice did not pass,” ND noted. “Early elections are now necessary more than ever.”
