Cases Filed Against Varoufakis, Two Health Ministers Sent to Greek Parliament

greek house of parliamentGreek prosecutors on Thursday forwarded to parliament three case files against two current ministers and former finance minister Yanis Varoufakis.
The file against Varoufakis sent to parliament is a law suit for high treason in connection with his decisions during his term as finance minister last year which led to huge economic losses for Greece and brought political upheaval and, ultimately, the signing of a third bailout program.
The other two cases filed are against Health Minister Andreas Xanthos and Alternate Health Minister Pavlos Polakis for violation of duty regarding Kozani state hospitals which are unable to deal with emergency cases because of lack of personnel, as local residents claim.
After the cases were forwarded to the Greek Parliament, members of the House will be called upon to vote on whether the parliamentary immunity of the three persons charged should be lifted.
