Protestors Stop SYRIZA Officials From Laying Wreath at November 17 Memorial

polytechnioAccording to initial reports, this morning November 17, members of the leftist movements in Greece prevented SYRIZA officials in the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki from laying a wreath of commemoration at the memorial for the November 17, 1973 student uprising against the military dictatorship at the National Technical University of Athens, which is commonly called Polytechneio.
The event took place at Aristotle University and sources have reported that the SYRIZA officials tried to avoid the protesters and enter the memorial by a side entrance, but were unsuccessful in doing so and left the premises without laying the wreath at the memorial.
Other interruptions and high tension was noted at the University of Patra on Thursday when a similar situation occurred.
