Greek Opposition Leader Concerned Over National Issues

mitsotakis2Main opposition New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Wednesday addressed his parliamentary group, expressing his concern over national issues.
“The Cyprus talks have intensified. We support with all our strength President Anastasiades’ efforts but we are concerned over the other side’s steps” Mitsotakis said, adding, “Turkey is unpredictable. Erdogan’s statements challenge the international conventional foundation, the Treaty of Lausanne. These are unacceptable statements that generate major concerns in the region. Albania is putting all issues on the table. The agreement on the refugee issue is at stake. In such an environment, Greece is on the margins, the government has no clear national strategy.”
“On fiscal issues we are not part of any solution,” the New Democracy leader continued. “The international community is viewing us, at best, with compassion and pity, but this is not enough to defend our interests. The meeting in Berlin — with the participation of Germany, France, Netherlands, Spain, and Italy — shows that people want to decide for us, without us. If we did not have the miserable SYRIZA-ANEL coalition government, Greece could be a growth machine.”
The main opposition leader stressed, once again, the need for elections.
