Poll: New Democracy Leads by 11 Points in Greece

pollThe popularity of the SYRIZA-ANEL coalition is in a downward spiral, as the majority of Greeks appear to wish a change in government, a new opinion poll shows.
A new poll conducted by Pulse on behalf of Action 24 television shows that 38% of participants want early elections, a percentage almost double than the one on a similar survey about two months ago. Also, 24% of participants want to see another government in the House, while 22% appear to want the present government to stay in power.
On intention to vote, New Democracy leads with 31.5% of the intended vote, with SYRIZA trailing at 20.5%. In a September poll conducted by Pulse, the difference between the conservative and the leftist party was 8%.
Regarding the other parties, figures remain stable, with Golden Dawn being the third party of choice (7.5%), followed by the Democratic Coalition (PASOK-DIMAR at 6%). The Greek Communist Party (KKE) is next with 5.5%. New leftist party Plefsi Eleftherias makes it to parliament with the required 3%, while the remaining parties did not get the percentage required to have seats in the House.
Specifically, the Centrists Union now stands at 2.5%, To Potami and ANEL are at 2% each, while ANTARSYA and Popular Unity received 1% each.
When asked who is more suitable for prime minister, New Democracy chief Kyriakos Mitsotakis is 13 percentage points ahead of Alexis Tsipras.
However, a high number of participants (43%) expressed the wish that new political parties are formed, while 45% are satisfied with the existing parties and are negative toward the establishment of new ones. More specifically, about half of the people who voted for SYRIZA in the September 2015 elections would like to see new political powers emerge. As for New Democracy voters in the same election, one in three was in favor of new political parties.
