apollon panathinakosJust as it seemed Panathinaikos was destined to exit the group stage of the Greek Cup on Thursday night, they managed to score big the second-half and stay in the game.
As the Greens were bottom of their group with a mere one point from two games, and as they were down 2-0 against Apollon at half-time the stadium emptied out as the Panathinaikos fans left, upset with their team.
However, the Greens made a comeback scoring 3 times in a 10 minute period the second-half, plus an own goal ending the game with a 4-3 win for Panathinaikos, advancing them to round 16.
Other news for Greece’s soccer clubs is that Olympicos completed its three-out-of-three at Sparti with a 1-0 win and AEK had a draw against Lamia of 0-0. PAOK scored 7-0 against Panelefsiniakos, while Trikala beat Larissa 1-0.
The teams to qualify as group winners and go forward for the Round of 16 draw are: PAOK, Olympiakos, PAS Giannina, AEK, Panetolikos and Asteras Tripolis from the Super League, plus OFI and Kissamikos from the Football League.
