The bears in the Arcturus Sanctuary of Nymfaio, Florina, have started hibernating because the very low temperatures and the snow alerted their biological clock.
“The oldest bears first went to sleep followed by the younger ones who had come from the Zoo in Thessaloniki,” Panos Stephanou from Arcturus said in statements to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA).
The shelter accommodates 15 bears while another four, that have not hibernated, live in another shelter.
