Corruption Index Reveals Greece Has Risen in Ranking

The latest numbers have been released for the Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index and Greece’s position has risen from 58th in 2015 to 69th place in 2016 out of 167 countries rated.
The data revealed that the least corrupt country was Denmark who received 90 points in the annual index which rates corruption from 0-100, zero being highly corrupt and 100 being very transparent. The most corrupt country was Somalia which had only 10 points.
Sources reported that much of the country’s increase in corruption has been a result of the economic crisis which has led to the increase of under the table payments in order to avoid excessive red tape in Greece.
