Former Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis returned to the news on Wednesday with an interview with BBC where he expressed the view that western democracies need a “New Deal.”
The outspoken economist said that Europe needs “a new Bretton Woods,” pointing out that new jobs with good pay are needed in all European countries facing an economic crisis.
“Immigration is not to blame, nor can you prevent immigration to Britain by building fences when neighboring states are suffering,” Varoufakis said inter alia.
The “erratic Marxist,” as he has called himself in the past, said that a minimum income for all citizens of the world is needed.
