What started back in 2010 in Athens as a revival of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” – where Greeks dressed up in their best zombie costumes – has now become the Annual Walk of the Zombies which has entered its 5th year!
The first event in 2010 attracted 400-500 people, whereas the current zombie walk attracts thousands each year.
The fun took place this weekend in Athens on the last Saturday of Carnival and this year’s themes were zombies from the series “Stranger Things” as well as classic films such as “The Goonies,” “ET,” and “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.”
The zombies met at Syntagma on Saturday just as the sun set around 6 p.m. – which seems about the right time for zombies to get their spook on!
