4.1 Earthquake Rocks Cephalonia, 4.4 Tremor off Lesvos an Hour Later

An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale occurred two minutes after midnight on Wednesday in the sea area southwest of Cephalonia island; another 4.4 eartquake hit Lesvos at 1:26 am.
According to the Institute of Geodynamics of the National Observatory of Athens, the epicenter was located 43 kilometers southwest of Argostoli, Cephalonia‘s capital. The focal depth is estimated at seven kilometers.
At 1:26 am, another earthquake occured off Lesvos island with a focal depth of 10 kilometers. According to the Geodynamic Institute the earthquake occured occurred at the coast of Turkey, northwest of Lesvos.
