Car Sales in Greece Increased 43.1% in February

Car sales in Greece increased by 43.1% in February compared to the same month in 2016, according to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).
Specifically, 10,006 vehicles, new and used from abroad, were sold, compared to 6,990 sales in February 2016. The number of new cars was 5,763 compared to 3,595 in the same month last year, a 60.03% increase.
According to ELSTAT, in the first two months of 2017, 23,102 new cars were registered (new and used from abroad) against 17,655 in the same period in 2016, a 30.9% increase. The brand new cars were 12,909 versus 9,843 in 2016, an increase of 31.1%.
Regarding new motorcycles (new or used from abroad) larger than 50 cc, in February there were 1,066 sold against 2,229 in the same month of 2016, showing a decrease of 52.2%. The new motorcycles amounted to 895 compared to 2,065 in February 2016, a decrease of 56.7%.
In the first two months of 2017, 2,129 new motorcycles were sold, versus 3,942 in the corresponding period of 2016, a 46% decrease. The new motorcycles amounted to 1,810 against 3,638 in 2016, showing a decrease of 50.2%.
