Turkey's Political Instability Having Negative Impact on Greece's Cruise Ship Industry

After reviewing the latest data for 2017, Panayiotis Kampouroglou who is the chief executive officer at ICTS Hellas and executive vice president of ICTS Europe is expecting a decline in cruise ship bookings this and the following season, according to ekathimerini.com.
In all, the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) expects to see a 20 percent decline of bookings over the summer 2017 season on cruise ships and Kampouroglou expects a further 20 percent decline the following season as well the online paper reported. Kampouroglou says that problems such as the security issue of the political instability of neighboring Turkey have caused Greece’s cruise tourism to decline.
This, along with the ongoing migrant crisis in the Aegean has deterred tourists from booking cruises and this season, many tour operators have cancelled stops in Turkey because of the escalating political tensions in the country.
