Remains of Man Killed In Fire Left Wrapped in Body Bag on the Street Because He Was Poor

A single-home fire in Thessaloniki claimed the life of a 86-year-old man. Early Saturday morning the man was discovered by authorities and was then wrapped in a blue body bag and left on the side of the street because the undertakers refused the body because he was poor.

According to officials, when the undertakers were told that the man had no family and was destitute, they “dumped the body on the pavement, with legs sticking out, and left,” the AP reported.

Eventually, neighbors called another funeral home to take the body, which they did.
