Greek Youth the Most Disappointed in Europe

Young Europeans are disappointed and worried about their future, but Greek youth are the most disappointed of all as 82% believe that their lives will be worse than that of their parents.
According to a survey conducted by YouGov in seven countries, on a sample of people aged 16 to 26, the youth of Europe feel uncertain about their future in relation to what previous generations felt.
As far as Greece is concerned, the country’s young people are even more pessimistic, as the results show that 82% of respondents believe that the quality of their lives will deteriorate even further and be worse than that of their parents.
According to the study, young Greeks are not the only ones who worry about the future. European youth estimate that economic prospects and personal well-being will be much lower than that of their parents: In Italy (58%), Britain (58% ), France (55%) and Spain (54%) the majority believe that their parents had better lives. Even in Germany, where economic indicators have moved upwards in recent years, 33% of young people are skeptical about their professional future.
The only country in which young people appear more optimistic is Poland, with 47% of young people saying that tomorrow looks more promising. Also, in countries in the South, such as Spain and Italy, where unemployment rates are high among young people, the youth there see the next two years in a positive light.
Specifically, 47% of young Spaniards and 44% of Italians believe the economic situation will improve over the next two years. Similar beliefs were expressed by Germany’s youth, at a rate of 48%.
In Greece, only 29% of young people believe the economic situation in Greece will improve, while 11% say it will get even worse.
