Olympiakos has advanced to Sunday’s Euroleague final after beating CSKA Moscow 82-78 on Friday in Istanbul. The Reds will be facing the winner of the other semifinal between Real Madrid and Fenerbahce. Players Spanoulis, Costas Papanikolao and Girogos Printezis led the scoring for Olympiakos with 14 points each, while another 12 points were added by Matzaris. As reported by ekathimerini, “it was this Greek spirit that led the Reds to the reversal of their fortune on the night, as this is a team that has been together for many years.”
After a great deal of bad press on violent outbursts involving Fenerbahce fans attacking and injuring Olympiacos supporters, the Red’s win helped to bring a positive vibe back into the game.
