AEK Clenches Victory Against Panionios

The last round of the play-offs pitting AEK against Panionios took place on Wednesday as AEK came from behind to beat Panionios 2-1 in Nea Smyrni.
Panionios’ Giorgos Masouras put his team in the lead, but AEK leveled the score with a goal from Petros Mantalos before half-time. Sergio Araujo scored AEK’s winning goal.
AEK finished top po the mini-league with 12 points following their victory over Panionios and has Greece’s second ticket to the Champions League, after champion Olympiakos.
Meanwhile Panathinaikos took victory PAOK at winning 3-2. PAOK needed to win the game in order to advance to the Champions League qualifiers, but couldn’t pull it off. They were in the lead twice thanks to Diego Biseswar and Pedro Henrique but Panathinaikos’ Viktor Klonaridis and Robin Lod caught them up to level the score twice before Guillermo Molins scored the winning goal in the third minute of time added on.
Also, PAOK has finished second with 11 points, Panathinaikos third on eight and Panionios fourth with four points. All of the teams will go forth to compete in the Europa League next season.
