SYRIZA welcomed on Friday the Athens Pride parade in the Greek capital which will be held on Saturday afternoon, saying it will participate in the events planned.
“The change of consciousness, the breaking of stereotypes, accepting diversity, tackling social racism and discrimination against the LGBTQI community but also all those threatened by social exclusion are, to a large extent, a matter of education and culture,” the party’s Rights division said in a press release.
The parade will kick off at 19:00 in the city’s main square which will be followed later at night with the open-air concert. This year, the main slogan is “A matter of education”, which aims at main problems facing LGBTQI people, such as the long-awaited legislation on gender identity.
