Tsipras Expresses Condolences to Portuguese Counterpart for Deadly Forest Fires

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras spoke with his Portuguese counterpart Antonio Costa on Sunday to express his condolences for the dozens of victims of the forest fires raging in the country, his office said in a statement.
The premier also expressed the Greek people’s support and solidarity for the difficult times facing the Portuguese people and offered any necessary assistance in tackling the blaze.
Greece experienced its deadliest fires a decade ago. From June to September 2007, 84 people died in Greek wildfires, including 67 in a blaze that torched 1,500 square kilometers (370,000 acres) of forest and farmland in southern Greece.
