Survey Shows Greeks' Skepticism About EU Benefits Nearly Double Than Average

According to a new survey of 1,000 people in 10 European countries by London-based international policy institute Chatham House and research company Kantar, more than 7 in ten, or 74 percent of Greeks are worried about the future of the EU.
Greeks’ skepticism on the outlook of benefits in the future of the EU were nearly double than the average of 38 percent. The survey included the other EU countries of Britain, Belgium, Germany, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Austria, Hungary and Poland. Around 80 percent of Greeks surveyed said that they believe that more members of the bloc will follow Brexit’s lead and leave the EU in the next 10 years.
Also Greeks were more pessimistic about the EU at 60 percent while the survey average was only 40 percent. A great deal of Greeks’ criticism of the outlook for the EU revolved around what 67 percent of Greeks called the EU’s biggest failure — the austerity program gripping the country for the past 7 years.
