Corruption Prosecutor Files New Charges in Connection With Chinook Arms Deal

New charges have been filed in connection with the contract for the procurement of Chinook helicopters signed in 1998 under former minister of defense, Akis Tsochatzopoulos. The official estimates of damage brought about by the government for this deal totals to around 5 million euros.
The charges in the new criminal proceedings of the Chinook arms deal have been filed by corruption prosecutor Eleni Touloupaki.
Those accused are the former head of arms procurements at the Defense Ministry, Yiannis Sbokos, and Antonis Kantas, who was the deputy head of procurements at the Defense Ministry between 1996 and 2002, Also being accused are the legal representatives of the SONAK company, Thomas Liakounakos and Ilias Arkoumaneas.
